A 25-record study of home-services brands and domains

Two business names can sit under the same parent and still use separate domains, evidence and identity records. This study keeps those layers apart across 25 selected PE-backed or acquisitive home-services platform records.

Purposive, non-representative sample observed 31 August and 1 September 2026. Covers identity structure only; no local, organic or AI performance was measured.

Updated 2 September 2026.

How the records connect

Sponsors, platforms, brands and domains stay separate.

The map contains 20 sponsor entities, 25 platform records, 50 selected brands and 50 selected consumer domains. These counts describe the selected evidence set, not the home-services sector.

The graph separates parent, platform, operating identity and consumer domain. Counts describe the selected evidence set, not the sector. Purposive, non-representative sample observed 31 August and 1 September 2026. Covers identity structure only; no local, organic or AI performance was measured.
How records were selected

Why the sample contains exactly two brand-domain pairs per platform.

The study tested a way to map brands and domains. It did not try to count every business in every portfolio. The original 10 records stayed in the set. Before the next 15 were selected, the inclusion rule and ordering method were written down. The first two eligible business-domain pairs were then selected from first-party sources.

25 platform records · 50 selected brands · 50 selected domains

Two brand-domain pairs per platform were fixed by the protocol. The resulting count is not a market rate. Purposive, non-representative sample observed 31 August and 1 September 2026. Covers identity structure only; no local, organic or AI performance was measured.

Two pairs per platform is an inclusion and selection result. It is not a market rate, a roster-completeness claim or evidence that platforms generally retain two or more separate brands or domains.

The relationship record

Status belongs to a relationship, with its source and date.

A domain does not establish the parent behind it. An announcement can support an announced relationship, but it cannot silently become proof that a deal closed or that the same relationship remains current years later.

Status belongs to the relationship and evidence date. An announcement is not silently upgraded to a current closed relationship. Purposive, non-representative sample observed 31 August and 1 September 2026. Covers identity structure only; no local, organic or AI performance was measured.
Redwood source, published 8 May 2025

The Altas relationship remains announcement-bounded. Closing and current Altas ownership were not verified in this study. Observed 1 September 2026.

Cascade formation source, published 15 December 2022

The bounded announcement-time frame names four businesses. Two of those four were selected by protocol. Current ownership, membership and roster completeness were not reverified. Observed 1 September 2026.

What the study records

What the map records, and what it never measured.

Identity evidence on one side, unmeasured outcomes on the other

Recorded in the evidence set
  • 145 entity records
  • 25 typed acquisition or sponsor-platform relationship records
  • 50 descriptive identity-state events
  • 101 dated source captures
Not measured
  • Local packs
  • Organic rankings
  • Traffic
  • Leads
  • Revenue
  • AI-answer visibility
  • Migration outcomes
The study maps identities and evidence. It does not evaluate search or commercial performance. Purposive, non-representative sample observed 31 August and 1 September 2026. Covers identity structure only; no local, organic or AI performance was measured.

This study did not measure AI-answer visibility. Missing observations remain marked as not measured rather than being converted to zero. For 101 captures, we retained the source URL, observation date, file hash and byte count rather than republishing copyrighted page bodies.

Operational implications

Recheck the relationship needed for the decision.

  • Keep sponsor, platform, operating brand and consumer domain as separate objects.
  • Attach source, status and observation date to the relationship, not to a catch-all portfolio field.
  • Recheck the specific relationship needed for the decision in front of you.
  • Label missing information so an absent fact is not read as a negative result.

This is an evidence-governance implication, not a performance finding. The study does not show that private equity causes identity separation or that separate brands and domains help or hurt search, AI visibility or commercial results.

Limits

What must stay attached to every use of these counts.

  • The sample is purposive, non-representative and not a sector census.
  • The inclusion gate required two separately named business-domain pairs.
  • Separately retained names and domains do not imply poor integration.
  • The 25 relationship rows are not 25 verified closed acquisitions.
  • No sponsor, platform or brand ranking is supported, and no composite score was calculated.
  • No local, organic, traffic, lead, revenue, AI-answer or migration outcome was measured.
